How Often Should I Exfoliate?

Exfoliation is an important part of skincare that helps rid the skin of everything that has died, all of the grime built up, and the debris that keeps our skin from glowing. When we exfoliate, we use a grainy textured formula that gently breaks up the dead skin cells on the top layers of our skin. Once this is done, we have a fresh canvas to apply other formulas to like supple hydrators or youthful serums.

Typically, we suggest exfoliating only 2-3 times per week if you have tolerable skin. For mature, dry, or sensitive skin we suggest only exfoliating 1-2 times per week. Though exfoliation is good for the skin, too often scrubbing away at the skin’s delicate layers can begin to cause irritation. To be sure we give our skin all of the care that it needs, we practice skincare in 3 phases; 1 - Release, 2 - Restore, 3 - Receive. In this practice, exfoliation is done in the first step, Release, to release the toxins from your skin. It’s important that only gentle exfoliants are used on your face as the facial skin (and especially your eye areas) are incredibly delicate and susceptible to irritation. Remember to:

Never:

  • Use a sugar or salt scrub on your face
  • Exfoliate everyday or every night
  • Leave exfoliating skin unmoisturized

Always:
