4 Tips to Protect Your Skin This Summer

Do you love spending time outside when the weather is warm? We know we sure do! But we also know how important it is to protect our skin from the sun. After all, how you treat your skin now will affect how your skin looks and feels for the rest of your life. To reduce and prevent damage to your skin we recommend doing the following things, especially when you plan on spending a lot of time outdoors.

1. Lather up

Sunscreen is by far the best way of protecting your skin from sun damage. Apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before you go outside, and plan on reapplying it every two hours for the best protection.

2. Wear a hat

A wide brim hat is the perfect option if you are spending a day soaking up the sun on the beach! An umbrella or canopy can also help to provide shade as well. If you are hiking, or enjoying other outdoor activities, you can't go wrong with a classic baseball hat to protect your head and face from those harsh UV rays (just don't forget to apply sunscreen to your neck and ears!)

3. Avoid the sun between 10 am and 2 pm

The sun's rays are most intense in the early afternoon, which means you are at the greatest chance of getting sunburned during this time. If you must be outside during these hours wear sunscreen and stay in the shade as much as possible.

4. Wear sunglasses

Sunglasses not only protect your eyes from the sun, but they also protect the delicate skin around your eyes (Starry Eyes is your best friend for that delicate area!) For the best protection, opt for a pair of sunglasses with UVA and UVB protection.
