Getting Started with Good Medicine

Getting Started with Good Medicine

Welcome to Good Medicine. We are so happy you are here! There are a few things that we want you to know when you begin using our desert-born skincare. First, our products are formulated to blend, so you can create additional formulas that do something totally new when you combine products. Blending is fun, but if that sounds overwhelming, we have outlined a basic routine for you, as well as some fun blending ideas. Second, if you are transitioning to clean skincare, your skin may need time to adjust and detox. Third, Good Medicine works to encourage your body's natural system of repair and rejuvenation. Let us explain...

Blending

Other skincare lines create a whole bunch of products, one for every little thing. Here at Good Medicine, we create the basics, and then create a way for you to fine tune them to your needs though blending. We get it, blending can sound a little intimidating at first. but once you get the hang of it, you will love it. Our customers tell us how enjoyable and empowering it is. However, don't feel like you have to blend either. All our formulas work wonderfully on their own as well.

Here are some of our most beloved blends to get you started. But please know, there are no rules. Good Medicine is formulated to work well no matter which of our products you blend.

The most effective way to get started with Good Medicine is really with one of our Starter Sets. They are curated by condition, or you can try every skincare product we make. And the sizes are generous enough to last you for a month or two so you can really see how your skin reacts to each one.

A Basic Skincare Routine

Cleanse: Your choices are Rain Replenishing Oil Cleanser and Ashes Reincarnation Cleansing Grains. What's the difference? Rain is an oil cleanser that is amazing at removing makeup (especially mascara) and penetrating deep to attract and remove access oil and sebum from your skin. Ashes is in powder form and mixes with water to create a thin, silky smooth, more traditional, cleansing fluid.

Tone: It may seem tempting to skip this step, but toning your skin prepares it to receive the nourishment that comes next and help it penetrate more deeply and be more effective. Your choices for toners are Purity Perfectly Clear Tonic and Breeze Revival Mist. The main difference between the two is that Purity is formulated for acne prone skin and Breeze if formulated for all other skin types.

Nourish: We have two options for serums; Honey Dew Youth Nectar and Electric Sky Universal Elixir. Honey Dew is packed full of nutritious fruits and veggies and is actual super food for your skin. Electric Sky clears stagnation and literally breathes new life into your skin with activated oxygen. Many of our customers actually love using both serums. If you do, we recommend you use Honey Dew and then Electric Sky.

Moisturize: Clarity Awakening Face Cream is our moisturizer. We also recommend, and simply adore, Starry Eyes Brightening Eye Cream. Clarity delivers powerful vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Starry Eyes encourages blood flow and reduces puffiness and under-eye circles.

Example of a basic routine:

Cleanse your face. Add a few drops of warm water to Ashes in your palm (or small mixing bowl) and blend until you achieve a silky cleansing fluid. Using your fingertips, gently massage into your skin in circular upward motions. Rinse with warm water and dry with clean washcloth.

Spritz with Breeze and allow the toner to dry for just a few seconds.

Put a few drops of Honey Dew on your fingertips and gently tap the serum into your skin. Application is key; tapping it in allows it to work more effectively.

Put a few drops of Electric Sky on your fingertips and apply with a tapping motion as well. No need to avoid the eye area, the delicate skin around your eyes loves Electric Sky.

Apply Clarity with your fingertips, using the same tapping motions.

Finish with Starry Eyes. Apply a few small dots of Starry Eyes with your ring finger to your eye area and, with a tapping motion, distribute the cream all over the eyelid and undereye area. We also love to tap a little into the fine lines and wrinkles in other places on our faces.

Simple and glowing!

Transitioning to Clean

Your skin and body loves clean formulas. It's pretty rare, but sometimes when people transition from nasty chemicals to clean, luscious ingredients the skin needs time to adjust. But we have a plan for that (you're in good hands). If your skin begins to act reactive and sensitive when you decide to turn your back on chemicals forever, here is what we suggest. Simplify! It's not a bad idea, when transitioning to clean skincare, to start with Rain Replenishing Oil Cleanser and then slowly adding additional products to your routine. Here is a more in-depth look at this routine and how to transition if your skin needs... A Skincare Ritual for a Reactive or Irritated Complexion.

How it works to encourage your body's natural system of repair and rejuvenation...

Your skin is smart, and all the elements of healthy glowing skin are within you already. Good Medicine is formulated to nourish your skin and allow it to come back into balance.

In case you were snoozing through chemistry class – let us explain about the thing that makes your skin the happiest – it's natural pH level. The term pH stands for "potential hydrogen" and is used to describe the acid-alkaline ratio of a substance, which ranges from 0 (the most acidic) to 14 (the most alkaline). The health of your body and skin is directly linked to balancing your pH.

If you are feeling a little overwhelmed with skin chemistry – there is really good news! If you simply get out of the way – your super smart skin can heal itself.

You don't need your skincare to "fix" your pH. You need your skincare to "allow" your natural pH. Good Medicine skincare does this by drawing upon centuries of herbal wisdom, combining traditional and modern science and technology, and by working with the skin holistically to help it achieve a natural, self-sufficient state. Our products are BIOAVAILABLE – meaning, our skin knows exactly what to do with them. Each lovely formula will strengthen and enliven your skin's naturally resilient qualities and encourage a natural state of being.

Welcome to the Good Medicine Family.

From our desert home to yours. XOXO
